Return to Australian Allied Health Classification System V1.0

Discipline-specific IPA AND NIPAClasscifications and CodesThese are the nationally agreed activity descriptions that allied health departments are encouraged to use for internal management purposes, to permit benchmarking across facilities, costing studies, research activities and to influence national and state classification and funding models. Coding staff will not be coding these activities. On the basis of the IPA classifications developed by the professions, the National Centre for Classification in Health (NCCH) has adapted and modified these to produce four digit codes (in bold) for the interventions of
  • assessment / evaluation
  • therapeutic intervention
  • counselling and education
  • case management and discharge planning
  • other interventions

These are generic across the disciplines but a different numeric code has been assigned for each discipline.Seven digit codes (in plain text) represent the discipline specific intervention sub-types below the five intervention categories.
